The premise

The building is the constraint.

A facility designed around a comfortable per-rack figure does not gracefully accommodate several times that number. Power distribution, thermal capacity and floor loading all reach their limits at different points, and rarely the one anyone planned for.

That is the starting point for this series. Not a product session, and not a briefing. A table of senior people working through which physical limit they hit first, whether retrofit or rebuild was the right call, and what they would sequence differently.

What the table will cover

Three questions on the table.

Each table works through the same three questions, shaped by what the room brings to them.

Which limit you hit first

The first question is diagnostic: whether each organisation ran out of power, cooling, floor loading or grid connection first, and how much of the eventual answer was predicted in advance.

Liquid, and what it commits you to

Moving to liquid cooling is a one-way door in most facilities. This session looks at how organisations made that decision, and what they wish they had known about the operational change.

Water, and who is counting it

Consumption is becoming a permitting question and a public one. The table works through where water use now enters their planning, and how they expect that to change.

The series
